Last week’s post on body image and The Beautiful Revolution sparked a bonfire of responses. The comments and the shout-outs on FB and Twitter from other women for Wonderful Women Wednesdays (#WWW) were emotional and heartfelt. Since this topic resonates so deeply with girls and women I decided to share a few of the comments and reactions.
“Loving my winter weight. It makes me feel so Victorian and voluptuous.” I think this is a great statement of acceptance by a woman of her beauty but what hit me even more was the impact that acceptance had on other women.
- “I could hug you.”
- “I love this!! It is the most inspirational thing I have seen all day, or week, or….. hope you don’t mind if I copy and paste. : )”
- “Possibly the most awesome status update in the history of Facebook!”
Another woman wrote this comment about the blog post itself: “great post and something I needed today! Thanks! (gonna share this with my daughter…)”
Someone tweeted: “this #WWW is really catching on amongst my friends, too!”
Words are powerful, they affect us deeply. As a woman I thank all of you for your participation. Let’s continue the Wonderful Women Wednesdays (#WWW) movement. This is grassroots and by continuing to take part we are “Be[ing] The Change You Wish To See In The World.” Gandhi
(If you missed the original post it’s entitled The Beautiful Revolution and was posted here on January 28, 2010.)
I would love to get to know you! Join me on

You have touched such a wonderful “sweet” spot for women, Cherry. What a gift. You are so right about the power of words; in fact this whole body image nightmare is driven by them. As women, our counter attack needs to be with words too. It seems that you are starting their flow and I’m hoping that soon we’ll hear the roar! Thanks for getting this movement started!
