Linda,

We all do things for different reasons as parents, and helping yourself get a good night's rest sounds like excellent parenting to me. When we're sleep deprived, it's hard to be engaged, calm with our kids or anyone.

I appreciate your comment, Cherry

Hi CJ,

Thanks for stopping by. I like your point that "different things work for different children and in different situations" One size parenting does not fit all.

I hate the term "mommy wars" and tried to figure out how I could not use it in my post. You do sound phenomalous, Cherry

It's definitely easy to jump to conclusions, especially when it's regarding something important to us, like parenting. As a mother of 4, I know different things work for different children and in different situations. My three year old is still in bed with us. Did I plan it that way..... no, but it works for us right now.

It's funny you wrote on this because I saw the cover without reading anything and thought the same thing... Are you serious?! And the title "Are you MOM ENOUGH" definitely makes you bristle. My first thought was.... are you implying I'm not because I did not breastfeed any of my kids past one years of age?

I also do not like the term "mommywars". We are on the same side and we should be supporting each other more and just embracing that we are moms. I try not to judge other parents without the whole story, but we are human and it's going to happen..... so we will just have to remind each other now and again!

Two thoughts Cherry: One is we've all jumped to conclusions when skimming something online, and often it's an alarming headline/image. I think the rapidness and distractibility of info and technology are part of the problem. Good Lord, who has time to read Time Magazine anymore when you can get the soundbite online?

Interesting that you found refuge and sensibility in the good 'ol library...

Second: I find the term "mommywars" appalling. That's hitting below the belt and doesn't help society one bit. I need to read the article, but I like the middle ground of parenting. I followed your examples for the most part--the sleeping thing is still an issue with my son. It was just easier to keep him in bed with me as an infant. Though it was more my selfishness and need for a good enough night's rest than to instill good sleeping habits.

Thanks for the check on those online petitions--no need to rush to judgment with the rest of the Facebook herd ;).

Thanks Jacqui. I'm glad that I can share ideas that are empowering and liberating. That's what I want for everyone, particularly women who may have difficulty finding and using their voice for doing the things they really want to do. Cherry

Thanks for your natural style of sharing what 'resistance' means to you, and how it has exhibited itself in your life, Cherry.

Your networking resistance particularly appeals to my senses. I love that you are a chit-chatter, and how you naturally interact and connect with folks through various volunteering and other venues!

Your blog and social media relationships continually link people with empowering and liberating ideas. I appreciate that!

Thank you!

Hi Cherry - I really like this post. For years, I have been beating myself up as I do not "do" these networking things....I am better at going to the meetings where I am interested and also volunteering where I want to volunteer (I volunteer on PSI's warmline on Wednesday evenings). So this was validating & free-ing for me!
